How can I "learn" to feel happy?


Answer:
Happiness is a bi-product of life, not something that you can force on yourself. In saying that, there are people who swear by the fact that you can make yourself feel more cheerful by forcing yourself to laugh everyday. Find a space where you will be alone and force yourself into a big loud belly laugh with a smile on your face. Often you get the giggles at yourself for what you are doing but even if you don't, your brain releases chemicals that make you feel good. You effectively trick your body into thinking you are happy and it responds by doing what it does when you are.
I don't know, but when you find out please write a book about it and give me a copy! People tell me all the time to just be positive, think differently...but I just stay stuck in negativity.
It all depends on your personality.
You might start by reading the Bible
happiness is not taught, it is not to be learned, although it does come with realization. You can't learn how to be happy, you must realize what it is to be happy.
But, here are some words of mine and others to help you understand a little bit more

you can't...it's a socially constructed ideology. Check out foucault. Saying that i'm pretty chipper most of the time

it's your thoughts that affect your feelings, not the other way around.

it's your choice to think what you think - and this in turn, affects how you feel.

ie. if you find yourself thinking about the really crappy day you had - learn to catch yourself in that act and consciously decide to think about something else. a thought is only a thought. it can't hurt you or make you sad unless you let it.
